Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension Treatment

The blood clots that cause CTEPH cannot be suctioned out or dissolved with clot-busting medications. The recommended treatment for CTEPH in most patients is a surgical procedure called pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE).

There is an approved form of medical therapy for CTEPH patients; however, this is only for patients deemed to have inoperable CTEPH or for PTE patients with PH following PTE surgery.
